The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and a few ministers are currently having a private meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja with the President’s Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
The Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Yemi Cardoso, the Ministers of Finance, Dr. Tahir Mamman, Education, Budget and National Planning, and Agriculture, Abubakar Kyari, and State for Agriculture, Sabi Abdullahi, were also present at the meeting, which started at around 5:30 p.m.
Although the meeting’s agenda has not yet been made public, a source close to the presidency informed Vanguard that it has something to do with food security, particularly in light of the growing costs of food, which are fueling instability in some regions.
According to dependable information obtained by Vanguard, the President’s Chief of Staff called the meeting for the Presidential Committee on Emergency Food Intervention.
The gathering follows the demonstrations against the rising cost of living in the nation by young people in Kano and women in Minna, Niger State.
Remember how a group of women in Minna, Niger State, blocked the notorious Kpakungu Roundabout on Monday, the busiest Minna-Bida Road, and demanded that President Bola Tinubu’s administration solve the issue of “hunger in the land.”
The demonstrators resisted security personnel’s attempts to break up the demonstration by throwing tear gas canisters into the throng and causing some arrests.
The state governor of Kano, Abba Yusuf, promised the young people that he would bring their grievances to the attention of the president when they staged protests against the hardships facing the nation.
